Goodbye Bubbles

Miss Bubbles

We said goodbye to Bubbles yesterday and a big piece of my heart is gone. She was very weak and refused to eat, so we took her to the vet. Dr. Palomar was off, so we had to take her to see Dr. Murray. He didn't seem hopeful, but he agreed to try her on IV fluids to see if they could get her glucose up. It killed me to leave without her. I just had this awful feeling that she would never come home again.

They called at 4:30 to tell me that she was doing great and perking up! I thought my prayers had been answered. 15 minutes later they called back to tell me that she was gone. I feel so horrible that she died alone in the hospital rather than at home in my arms. I wonder if she knew what was going on and why we left her there.

My heart is broken - We brought her home and let Grover and the kids say goodbye to her. We all held her and said our goodbyes and then she was buried in her special snuggle sack in the flower garden. It felt like the coldest day of my life out there and so surreal. How could we be burying this sweet angel? Just a week ago we were so hopeful and happy about how well she was doing and excited about seeing the improvement that the Lupron shot would give.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
