It's a Girl!

It's a Girl!, photographed by GenGlo.

We brought home a new pound puppy yesterday. We are still trying to agree on her name, but I'm leaning towards Lucy. Sarah wanted to give her a Greek name, and Lance suggested Athena, but she seems more like a Lucy to me. The Greek reference is Saint Lucy (ΛΟΥΚΙΑ) or Santa Lucia, one of the Orthodox saints. Her name day is December 13.

We brought Belle to the pound to see if they like each other and the girls seem to get along well. Right now they are friendly, but somewhat uninterested in each other. Our new girl seems to be afraid of the cats and ferrets though. She runs to me if they get too close.

She is an 8 year old "puppy" and such a love bug, too. I've never had two dogs at the same time, but I always felt that it would be nice if Belle had a friend. Belle tolerates the other animals, but she definitely prefers dogs.
